Color Mixing with Custom Paint

At Christmas I was gifted a lovely set of test colors called “London Fog” from Adventure Art in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Lloyd and Amber Leibee collaborate on lots of creative offerings, including really high-quality handmade artist-grade paints. I love these rich colors, especially that deep blue and the bright orange-red. Of course I had to jump right in and see how they mixed together to create other useful colors. But I was surprised by the results! Here’s a quick video to show why it’s important to know exactly what the actual pigments are behind your gorgeous handmade paints. All paints are made from either one pigment or a mix of pigments, and there is a handy universal code for all colors (PR= pigment red; PY= pigment yellow; PB= pigment blue; and so on, with unique numbers for each “species” of color). That way, you don’t end up with mud instead of that purple you thought you were going to get!
