Free Field Arts Workshop — Landscapes

IMG_5659.JPG

Drawing Landscapes! Free online tutorial with Ryan Petterson and me this Sunday, May 24 from 10 am - 12 pm Arizona time (that's GMT-7). Ryan is Director of Field Education, School of Earth Energy and Environmental Sciences at Stanford University and I'm Art and Science Program Coordinator at the U of A's Desert Laboratory on Tumamoc Hill. We're collaborating again on our shared love of the field arts—sketching, keeping field notebooks, cartography, watercoloring in situ.

On the first workshop (May 9; see the Field Arts Tutorials page for videos), we touched a little on landscape sketching—this time, we’ll choose a landscape using a 360-degree-view website, and then each of us will demonstrate how we zero’d in on a scene, and then do a live sketch and discussion of our thinking and drawing process and techniques, adding color at the end. Plan to draw along, we’ll build in time. We’ll also have a Q and A session. Ryan is Director of Field Education, School of Earth Energy and Environmental Sciences at Stanford University.

REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
